ISA Edmonton Section | COVID-19 UPDATE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

The health, safety and wellbeing of humanity is taken very seriously by the ISA Edmonton Section. The COVID-19 pandemic is something that none of us have experienced in our time on earth. How we are dealing with it from a global perspective, as businesses, organizations and individuals continues to change - by the day, even the minute…

We encourage you to take the recommendations of the Alberta Government seriously: self-isolate if required and practice social distancing to prevent the spread. Be cyber-safe, don’t fall for any scams related to COVID-19 and beware of links emailed to you. Oh, and if you’re bored at home… explore the resources on isa.org :)

Here is an update on how the ISA Edmonton Section has been affected by COVID-19 and the actions we have taken in turn (to-date).

ISA Edmonton Section Automation Expo & Conference / AEC 2020 – This is our flagship event that takes place every two years. It was supposed to happen on April 29 & 30, however due to the universal concern and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, and the Alberta Government’s Public Health Restrictions (mass gatherings), we rescheduled it for the fall. Our new dates are October 27 & 28 (the set-up day will be October 26).

Monthly Events
- March & April –The ISA Edmonton Section did not plan to host a monthly event in March or April 2020 in order to direct our focus on the ISA Edmonton Section Automation Expo & Conference. Despite the postponement of AEC 2020, there are no plans in the works for a March or April event. Again, due to the universal concern and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, and the Alberta Government’s Public Health Restrictions (mass gatherings).
- May & June -
  - Mentorship Program Virtual Wind-Up
  - AGM & Awards (moved from May to June, will take place virtually)
  - Networking Patio Party - Cancelled for this year... we can't wait to party with you when it's safe to do so :)
