Thank you to all ISA Edmonton Section members for putting your faith in me as your 2021-2022 President as we emerge from the pandemic.
Firstly, it is with great pride that I take over as President in 2021, a year that saw us win our first ever Section Excellence Award (read story) - that's right, we're the #1 ISA Section in the world (out of 110 sections across the globe)! ...And what better year to be the honouree than in our 50th - that's right, it's also our Section's Golden Anniversary (join us to celebrate)!
Belonging. Becoming. Beyond! Since COVID-19 struck, our rituals and routines have been challenged, and because of this many of us have developed a greater appreciation for what we have/had. More than ever, we are drawn to the idea of belonging to something, invigorated by the possibility of becoming more than we are, and considering what's beyond/next.
We all want to feel a sense of community and like we're a part of something. The ISA Edmonton Section offers just that for automation professionals (whether you've been in the industry for years, have recently graduated or are a student). Please consider getting involved: be a member, attend our events, join our Board, be a Mentor & more.
Recent global events have really challenged who we are as a Section and how we’ve done things in the past. Serendipitously, this accelerated our efforts to expand how we go about reaching members and our community. Becoming an advocate of virtual connections is what it's been about. We've embraced technology that allows us to deliver impressive virtual events, and will continue to do so by offering hybrid events as we transition back to in person.
We're thinking bigger picture; moving above and beyond our current state and building upon our successes of connecting virtually. How can we use this as a catalyst to continue to reach a larger audience and create inclusivity? Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome.
