Back by popular demand, the ISA Edmonton Section is hosting a second tour of C-FER Technologies! The first tour of C-FER's main facility was held last fall (October 2014) and sold out. This fall's tour will be of C-FER's new facility, officially named, "C-FER East".
About C-FER East
In August 2014, C-FER opened a second office and testing facility in Edmonton, C-FER East, to complement their main facility. The new building houses the Pipelines and Structures Division and includes a 3000 m2 high-bay test area and 1100 m2 of office area. This will provide space for some of C-FER’s key testing systems including:
- Leak Detection Soil Box for investigating the behavior of liquid hydrocarbon leaks in soil and the ability to detect such leaks with various technologies
- Deepwater Experimental Chamber for simulating water depths up to 3000 m;
- Horizontal Testing System for tensile testing up to 72 MN
- Cyclic Pressure Cell for applying cyclic internal pressure to tubulars to study remaining service and fatigue life
- Tailings Consolidation Cell for studying the performance of novel techniques for consolidating mature fine tails
The new facility allows C-FER to:
- Expand its engineering and technical staff
- Efficiently operate large-scale testing systems
- Build new testing systems to meet the ever changing needs of industry

- Student Tour 1 - 6:00pm (includes pizza & pop, available after your tour)
- Automation Professionals Tour 2 - 6:30pm (includes pizza & pop, available before or after your tour)
- Automation Professionals Tour 3 - 7:00pm (includes pizza & pop, available before your tour)
Address: 3712 Roper Road (please park behind the building and enter through the lab door)
No personal protective equipment will be required for the tour.
Pizza, pop and water will be served for dinner.
Registration is limited to 60 automation professionals and 30 students.
